Besan ka Gatta is very popular in Rajasthan and is an important curry in every picnic(also known as Goath in local dialect) over there. People eat this with various Indian Breads specially bati, and Rice. The english name for Besan is Gram Flour.

:: Ingredients ::

For the Gatta
  • 3/4 cup besan
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon saunf (fennel seeds)
  • 1/8 teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain)
  • 1 tablespoon curds
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • salt to taste

    For the Kadhi
  • 2 cups curds beaten
  • 1 tablespoon besan (gram flour)
  • 4 to 6 curry leaves
  • 1 teaspoon jeera (cumin seeds)
  • 1/2 teaspoon rai (mustard seeds)
  • 1/4 teaspoon hing (asafoetida)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/4 teaspoon haldi (turmeric) powder
  • 2 teaspoons chilli powder
  • 2 teaspoons dhania(coriander) powder
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped hara dhania (coriander)
